And no matter what you decide to do after you graduate, the difference between post-uni success and failure can come down to one all-important thing â€" planning.To help you to deal with life after getting your degree in the right way, here’s our comprehensive post-university checklist:  Check your financesYour money situation is undoubtedly going to change after you graduate. Comparison of Mercedes Sprinter Van and Mercedes Metris Outer If you are on the lookout for purchasing vans, then the best option is Mercedes-Benz with its features and classy drive. Mercedes-Benz offers two types of cargo vans; one is the Mercedes Sprinter van, and the other is the Mercedes Metris. On the outer, they both may look similar, but internally they have many differences. Outer The Mercedes Sprinter van and the Mercedes Metris may look similar to the viewer, but the most noticeable difference is in size. A Mercedes Sprinter van is much bigger and can carry a large number of passengers and cargo. The sprinter has a higher roof and is bigger in length. The sprinter van also offers the features of a high-roof version and a bigger wheelbase. The metris which is small as compared to the Sprinter van cannot carry as much freight and people as the sprinter van. Interior As with the shape and exterior both have differences in the interior as well. The Mercedes Sprinter van and the Mercedes Metris have almost similar cabins and dashboards, but the clutch, driving wheel and the gear gives the Mercedes Sprinter van a bus like a feel and a look. A Mercedes Metris has a more car-like feel to it. The Mercedes Sprinter van can carry around 12 to 15 passengers while a Mercedes Metris can carry up to 8 to 10, the difference may not be large, but there is a difference. The Mercedes Sprinter Van can carry a huge amount of freight and cargo as compared to the Mercedes Metris which can carry almost half of the amount. The difference is due to the large size of the Sprinter van and a huge wheelbase and high roof. Features Mercedes-Benz never compromises on features. Bothe types of cargo vans have almost similar features. These include automatic wipers and keeping in one lane assistance. Also, it has the feature to avoid forward collision with other vehicles on the road. They have an inbuilt monitoring system which also assists in driving and if one needs help in parallel parking. They have an additional backup camera and both cargo vans come with the option of heated seats. The safety features include anti-lock brakes and side- curtain airbags. Along with the feature of parking sensors, they have the feature of traction control automatic high beams. So, one can sure of the safety of driving cargo vans. One difference is that the Mercedes Sprinter van has the feature of a diesel power drive and an all-wheel drive, so the drive is fast and the pickup is heavy. The Mercedes Metris has only a single engine available with the option of only rear wheel drive. So, in all the Sprinter van outdoes the Metris. Driving As for the driving experience, the driving is smooth and safe. But in the Mercedes Sprinter van, one feels like driving a bus or truck due to its steering wheel and seating arrangement and a bigger size. A metris feels like driving a car or a minivan and not like a cargo van. All in all, if one has a business which requires the regular transfer of cargo then should go for sprinter vans. If one has a small business, then should go for metris.

Yes, you may be forgiven by your boss for openly job searching while still working if you know that your contract is coming to an end. But, should you be sneakily looking for alternative employment while your boss isnt looking, you can use some stealthy tactics to help you in your search, while remaining productive and on top of things at work.Lets take a look at some sneaky tips to help you find another job, while still working at your current job:Perfect the screen switch!If you are searching through job listings online through a recruitment company, or via a jobs board, then you must learn to perfect the screen switch! Make sure you have loa ded up a work screen and positioned your cursor mid-document or a few pages into a spreadsheet.Open a new window or tab to do your job searching tasks and quickly click back to your work screen when people walk by your desk or stop to talk to you.It also helps to perfect your swivel chair moves so that you can quickly blank your screen and swivel your chair to face away from your screen and towards some paper documents that you have open next to you.Of course, you will need to learn to develop Ostrich-like eyesight where you can do a quick side-glance around the office to observe where your boss is at all times.Dressing up for an interviewIf your job is in a smart-casual work environment, it can make everyone suspicious of you should you turn up one day wearing your smartest interview suit. You can try to divert their curiosity by not going all-out with your outfit. Carry your jacket into the office folded over your arm. Dont wear your tie â€" instead, keep it rolled up in your jack et pocket and wear your shirt open at the neck. Keep a slouchy jumper or cardigan at work that you can slip over your interview shirt. It will take the smart edge off your appearance while you work. When you sneak out for your job interview, you can put on your tie and jacket in the car or as you walk down the street on the way to your appointment. Leave your slouchy cardigan at work or in the car for the next time you need it.Arrange a stealthy interview appointmentWhile you can hardly walk out of your workplace at 10 am to attend a job interview across town, you can try to arrange a job interview at a more convenient time that will fit in with your workday. If possible, try to arrange for your interview to fall on your lunch-break when no one is suspicious of you leaving work for an hour. Should your interview run late, then you can blame the traffic, or say you needed to get some painkillers from the chemist and the queue was very long. You could offer to stay late to make up for the time you lost.If you have arranged a telephone interview, then you could sneak out to your car to take your interview. Remember though to park in the very furthest parking spot well away from the building â€" just in case your boss should happen to walk by your car while you are on the phone!See if you can arrange for a more casual interview that can be held in a local cafe or restaurant during your lunch break or after work. If you must keep their number close, put your phone on silent or lock it away in your desk draw well out of your boss’ earshot.You should also take great care to resist the temptation to print off your CV or resume at work using the company printer. Why Ethical Hacking Is Essential For Your Business In the middle of October, a huge internet attack managed to take down some of the biggest websites in the world. Popular services and sites including Twitter, Amazon, Spotify, Netflix and Soundcloud all experienced extended periods of downtime and slow loading times, causing misery and inconvenience to millions of users across the world. It was carried out by hackers using a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack to simultaneously overload the sites to that their servers could no longer handle the amount of traffic. But how it happened is not especially important â€" what is important is if hackers can take down some of the largest and most well-financed websites in the world, what could they do to small business websites? It’s a fact that if you’re a small or medium-sized business and you have a website, you need to start taking web security far more seriously. As hackers become more capable and use increasingly advanced techniques, it’s up to you to take steps to mitigate the damage that they could do to you. Think about what it would do to your business if your site was offline for a day. And what would it do if you were offline for a week or more? Failing to put time and effort into your internet security could leave you very vulnerable to attacks. Unfortunately many businesses suffer from complacency, believing that a serious hacking attack will never happen to them. But any site can be targeted and there’s no reason to think that you are immune. So it’s time to start thinking about your different options and one that is growing in popularity is ethical hacking. What is ethical hacking? Many people see the phrase ‘ethical hacking’ and they don’t really understand it. How can hacking be ethical? The problem is that there is a misconception about what it means to be a hacker and that has been fueled by the number of media reports on stolen passwords, data and identities by hackers. Of course, these kinds of criminal activities can be undertaken by hackers but that is not the only definition of the term. In fact, hacking was initially a positive term that effectively meant finding ways to improve systems or bypass unnecessary aspects of programs. The vast majority of people who classify themselves as hackers are not interested in criminal activities â€" many see it simply as a game or a challenge. It is only because hackers mainly receive media attention for doing illegal things that people misunderstand the term. Those illegal hackers and cyber criminals use their skills to break into computer systems in order to steal data or money. Ethical hackers use the same techniques as criminal hackers.  But instead of stealing, they provide information to businesses on how they were able to defeat their cyber defences. This allows those businesses to improve their cyber security so that if a real hacking attack were to occur, it would not cause them the same level of problems. To avoid the term ‘hacker’, many companies that complete ethical hacking are simply classed as cyber security experts.  But it’s important to note that all of the techniques used are the same. How is ethical hacking carried out? As mentioned before, the whole point of ethical hacking is to simulate a real hack. This means that ethical hackers use the same techniques that illegal hackers would attempt. The variety of different techniques grows every day.  Part of the skill of ethical hacking is being able to keep up with the most current methods. The term penetration testing is sometimes used interchangeably with ‘ethical hacking’, but it’s not quite right to do so. Penetration is testing is an important part of ethical hacking but it is an encompassing a term. Pen testing involves the attempts to breach the system by using digital methods, such as cracking passwords or bypassing security measures. Ethical hacking refers to broader attempts to gain access to a system. This could include anything from phishing emails to social engineering, where an employee could be tricked into giving away their details. These are the kinds of techniques that hackers would use in the real world to try to find a way into your system.  So it is just as important to test these aspects of your defences as it to understand your cyber security needs. Hackers are likely to use the techniques that yield the best work with as little work as possible. How can it help you? Ethical hacking provides you without something that you simply can’t simulate inside your business â€" an outside perspective. It’s generally the case that while a business’s cyber security team may know what they are doing, they can become blind to their own mistakes. It’s only when ethical hackers actively look for a way to circumvent the defences that it can be shown how they can be broken down. Your business can use ethical hackers on a regular basis in order to not only test your current capabilities, but is also to show the team exactly how hackers will attempt to break into the system. Once ethical hackers have carried out their work, it gives your cyber security team the chance to improve the defences. This could come in the form of complicated technical processes.  But it could also be something as simple as providing training to staff on how to spot a phishing email from something genuine. Baby Boomers, How is the Economy Working for You - Career Pivot How is the Economy Working for You? This economy is humming along at full speed. It is working for everyone…right? Is this economy working for you? The opening paragraph of Repurpose Your Career: A Practical Guide for the 2nd Half of LifeThird Editionis as follows: Finally, we’re at full employment! As of the writing of this book, unemployment rates are below four percent. Everybody who wants a job has one, right? Well, no, not exactly. I mean, that’s what most of the data says. But it doesn’t feel true. The data seems to be leaving something out. Over the last six months, I have discovered some shocking data on how unequal this recovery has been. I want to take a moment to discuss this, which explains why I see so many economic refugees here in Ajijic Mexico. We will discuss how is this economy working for you. The Roaring Stock Market Has Benefited Everyone…Right? I have had a conversation many times about how the rise in the stock market has NOT solved our retirement plans. I will admit that I personally have benefited from the stock market’s rise. However, only about half of the households in the U.S. have any exposure to the stock market. In fact, since the great recession, many of us baby boomers have reduced our exposure to the stock market. This is largely due to the fact that we have been jolted by 2 horrific recessions when we expected to be accumulating much of our retirement savings. Are many shell shocked? Yes. On top of that news, we see the following, according to Financial Samurai: As of 2019, the top 10 percent of Americans owned an average of $969,000 in stocks. The next 40 percent owned $132,000 on average. For the bottom half of families, it was just under $54,000. Listen to the most recent episode The top 10% of families measured by net worth owned 80% of the stock market by value. Is this great economy working for you? How Does Your Wealth Compare? Is this Economy Working for You? I am a big fan of the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College’s Squared Away blog. In March, they published the post How Does Your Wealth Compare? The post starts out saying: Depressing or eye-opening? An online tool tells you where you stand financially by stacking up your net worth against other Americans. Thecalculatorcompares a family’s net worth â€" financial and other assets minus debts â€" with all other U.S. families. Homeowners can choose to include the value of their home equity in their total net worth â€" or not. I clicked on the link and was taken to the Don’t Quit Your Day Job (DQYDJ) website and the articleNet Worth by Age Calculator for the United States. I ran the calculator for the 60-64-year-old age group and discovered that I was in pretty good shape, but I already knew that. Average and Median Household Wealth What I found disturbing was the following chart which verified my past research. What I want you to notice is the huge gap between average wealth and median wealth. For the 60-64 age group, the median amount is $224,775. For those of you who are not versed on median versus average: The median of a set of numbers is that number where half the numbers are lower and half the numbers are higher. In the case of real estate, that means that the median is the price where half the homes sold in any given area that month were cheaper, and half were more expensive than the median. The average of a set of numbers is the total of those numbers divided by the number of items in that set. The median and the average might be close, but they could also significantly different. It all depends on the numbers. Half of the families in the 60-64 age group have less than $224,775 net worth. Notice that the median and average values drop off precipitously in the younger age groups. Those younger age groups 50-54 and 55-59 make up a large portion of the readership of this blog. The huge gap between the mean and the average is best explained in the following chart. The top 10% have most of the wealth. Is this great economy working for you? Planning to Work into Your 70’s Many of you have calculated that the only way out of this is to work into your 70’s. If this is your plan I want you to check out an article on https://www.propublica.org calledIf You’re Over 50, Chances Are the Decision to Leave a Job Won’t be Yours The subtitle to the article says it all: A new data analysis by ProPublica and the Urban Institute shows more than half of older U.S. workers are pushed out of longtime jobs before they choose to retire, suffering financial damage that is often irreversible. The article goes on to say: Through 2016, our analysis found that between the time older workers enter the study and when they leave paid employment, 56 percent are laid off at least once or leave jobs under such financially damaging circumstances that it’s likely they were pushed out rather than choosing to go voluntarily. Only one in 10 of these workers ever again earns as much as they did before their employment setbacks, our analysis showed. Even years afterward, the household incomes of over half of those who experience such work disruptions remain substantially below those of workers who don’t. Another article was written for the New York Time by my namesake Mark Miller. Mark wrote an article called Why Working Till Whenever Is a Risky Retirement Strategyand chronicled the journey of a number of people. This included a member of the Career Pivot Membership Community, Cleo Parker. Is this economy working for you? Why am I Telling You This? One of the biggest issues I see when people work on tackling these problems is they think they are alone. No one else has these problems…right? One of the things I have learned from running the Career Pivot Membership Community is people need support in solving these problems. When we think we are only one with these problems it can be completely overwhelming. One solution I see is becoming an expat. There was a very good article in the Washington Post called The little-noticed surge across the U.S.-Mexico border: It’s Americans, heading south. By some estimates, there are 2 million US citizens living in Mexico. It is an estimate because many are living in Mexico illegally. Yes, you heard that right â€" they are living illegally in Mexico because they do not qualify for a resident visa. They are too poor to qualify. I never recommend clients rely on a post and wait method of applying to jobs listed on the large job boards as the numbers dont work in your favor, but niche boards can bring a stronger chance for success versus the larger boards and can be an effective part of an overall job search strategy. I believe in this so much that I include a customized list of niche job boards in all of my résumé development packages in the hopes that my clients will learn of one or two new good ones for their industry.
